Marion's
feedback on Neuro 4, Trophic
electrical stimulation
Reporting on the benefits of
exercise therapy programme for paralysing and disabling conditions

My experiences using Neuro 4 Trophic
Electrical Stimulation at Physability
I started somewhat reluctantly and rather
sceptically, having used the machine, albeit haphazardly, some two years
ago. However, after 33 weeks I'm glad I did it and greatly appreciate the
effort physability put into the scrupulous measuring of its effectiveness.

It required immense patience, grim endurance and
motivation to see it though on both our parts.
Week 12: I was surprised to see my little toe move and the bowing
response from toe 4 that followed it. As far as I could remember that
hadn't happened for several years.
Week 25: Even more surprised to see my big toe flicker and
subsequently move. Ditto to note flicker on instep area when big toe
quivered or moved. Delighted to know function for big and little toe on
different motor pathways, convincing me that there is life in the nerves.
It was practical to use Neuro 4 at night. Could never have sustained
using it during the day and wandering around the house with it. Had tried
using it when sitting/reading/writing but sustained sitting antagonises
burning feelings in feet. Therefore a relief to set it up at bedtime,
secure pads/leads under thick sock and sleep through it. Would need
different design to secure it during daytime activities.
