I was looking for a
different type of physiotherapy, all the Physiotherapy I have had so far has been
passive, not encouraging me to join in. This was something I did not agree
with because, one I like being pushed, I think it means you achieve more,
and two I felt my body had more to offer, than just passive movements. I
was introduced to physability by a friend of mine at the Bristol M.S.
Centre. I then came to Physability for my free induction, tried it and
liked it. I liked their approach, the technology, and the equipment they
use. Here at physability I have experienced a more active then passive
style of therapy.
Now that I am improving
all the time in my strength and movement using less assistance weight and
more resistance in some exercises, I was right in my initial thoughts of
wanting my body to be pushed more. I have improved in my strength so much
in my legs that I can stand up in the Parallel bars with an AFO orthosis
and lock my knees back unassisted. I am now practicing taking small steps
again.
